The ban comes into effect from tonight (Thursday, March 12).

Health department officials said hotels and marriage halls have been instructed to take the necessary steps to prevent the infection from spreading. Precautionary guidelines have also been issued in this regard, the officials said.

“All star hotels and restaurants across the state have been directed to stop late-night parties from Thursday to prevent them from turning into super-spreaders of the pandemic,” Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said.

Minister further added, “Late-night parties have banned till further notice, as more people gather for such events at one place and in a closed environment, which in turn may cause the virus to spread further.”
