Leopard trapped in a well, rescued

Udupi: Forest Department personnel successfully rescued a three-year-old leopard from a 70-foot-deep well at Kukkada village in Kundapur range on Wednesday June 12th.

The forest department received a call at 4 am informing that a leopard had fallen in a 70-foot-deep well with water at a level of nearly two feet in it. Soon a team from the department rushed to the spot. However, since it was dark, nothing much could be done to save the feline.

Rescue operation

The rescue operation to fish out the scared wet wild cat began at around 8am and various methods were employed. Eventually the leopard was rescued with the help of a net. The operation was completed by 1pm in the afternoon and the animal was released into Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary.
