Lockdown: Cop hurt in accident on duty dies, Compol condoles death

Bengaluru: A police constable died on Monday, April 13 after he suffered critical injuries while driving an auto that he had impounded for violating the lockdown on Sunday, April 12.

The deceased policeman is Nagesh (39), head constable of Peenya Police Station.

On Sunday, Nagesh had impounded the auto at a checkpoint near 8th Mile, Tumakuru Road, after its driver failed to produce a curfew pass. He sent the driver away and was driving the auto to a parking yard when it toppled.

Taking to Twitter, Bengaluru Commissioner of Police, Bhaskar Rao wrote, “Deeply regret to have lost Head Constable Nagesh,39 Peenya Police Station in a freak road traffic accident while performing COVID related duties.We deeply mourn his untimely death and condolences to his family. We are shocked in disbelief.”
