The decision comes amidst a backdrop of contention between the factions of Minister K H Muniyappa and former Minister K R Ramesh Kumar within the party. The high command’s choice of Gowtham , son of former mayor Vijayakumar belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, aims to bridge the divide and unify the party’s support base in Kolar.
The announcement today brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding the Kolar ticket, which had remained unresolved even as 3 candidates for remaining constituencies in Karnataka were named yesterday.
Sources suggest that the high command intervened to resolve the standoff between the opposing factions, recognizing the need for a candidate capable of garnering support from both sides. Gowtham’s selection is seen as a strategic move to mitigate the internal tensions and present a united front ahead of the elections.
