Maddur police question four  in JD(S) leader’s murder

Mandya: The Maddur police who are probing murder case of JD(S) leader are interrogating four people in connection with the murder of Honnalagere Prakash, who was stabbed to death near T B Circle in Maddur on Monday, December 23.

Addressing presspersons Mandya Superintendent of Police, P Shiva Prakash Devaraj confirmed that they have filed FIR against eight suspects in the case, but denied in making arrests. 

The accused are Swamy, Yogesh, Shivaraj, Muttesh, Prasanna, Hemanth and two others and it is said that all of them belongs Toppanahalli village of the city.

It is gathered that Prakash was killed over a two-year-old double murder.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy along with his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy(actor) and Irrigation and Mandya district in-charge minister C S Puttaraju paid the last respects to the mortal remains of Prakash.

Speaking to the presspersons, Kumaraswamy praised Prakash and said that he used to regularly meet him.

The body was taken out in a procession and the final rites were done in an agricultural field. Prakash’s son Abhilash lit the funeral pyre.

Earlier on Monday, the supporters of Prakash berged into five houses belonging to the suspects at Toppanahalli on Monday night. So, as a precautionary measure to this, police had deployed over 1000 personnel in Toppanahalli and Maddur.
