The boy identified as Mohammed Zishan, resident of Osmanabad, Maharashtra was found in a semi-conscious and dehydrated condition. Upon enguiry, Zishan revealed that he was madly in love with a girl named Samra from Shah Faisal town in Pakistan’s Karachi. He claims that he got to know Samra through social media and the two had been in touch on WhatsApp and Facebook. He further added that he was using Google Maps to travel from Osmanabad to Karachi via Rann of Kutch.
“Zishan was stopped at around 2100 hours on July 16 about 1.5 kilometre short of the India-Pakistan international border when he was attempting to cross over to Pakistan through the Rann of Kutch area,” a statement by BSF PRO in Gujarat said.
Apparently Zishan’s family suspected that he would try to cross over to Pakistan and lodged a complaint with Maharashtra police who in turn alerted their counterparts in Gujurat. Officials at Balasar police station in Gujarat’s Kutch district shared the information with BSF troops.

It may be recalled that in the year 2012, another boy from Maharashtra named Hamid Ansari had crossed over to Pakistan after fell in love with a girl he befriended on Facebook. In his case he had to spend six years in prison for entering the country illegally. He was finally released from prison in 2018.
