Violet Pereira, founder of the trust said that the idea of the pageant was a result of request from the community members and it was also inspired by a similar event that was organized by the people of Gurugram. Winners of the Mangaluru pageant will represent India in the 2019 edition of the International Queen Pageant in Thailand, she informed. Miss Transqueen India and International Queen Pageant events aim to celebrate gender fluidity, she added.
