Malaria Cases Found in 20 Districts of Karnataka

Bengaluru: Malaria cases have been reported in 20 districts of Karnataka state so far in 2017 after fever was first found in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada district followed by other districts including Chitradurga, Kalburgi, Raichur, Vijayapura and other districts of Karnataka, said Karnataka State Health and Family Welfare Department Chief Secretary Dr Shalini Rajaneesh speaking in a press conference here on Saturday.

The department has asked all the district health officers in the state to take measures to prevent the spread of the disease. She asked the local authorities to ensure proper supply of clean drinking water  and cleanliness at their respective area limits in the state.

Health and Family Department has already asked to all medical laboratories including private diagnostic centers in Karnataka to inform the department if they found any suspected samples indicating fevers like Malaria, H1N1 and other such 21 diseases. According to this new initiative, the department has received information on suspected Malaria fever cases from various labs located in Karnataka till now.
