'Man-killer' tiger captured alive after 5-day search

Bengaluru: A man-killer tigress that had given nightmares to locals living around Bandipur Tiger Reserve was finally captured alive on Sunday afternoon after a massive five-day hunt which saw the state deploy five teams of men, drones, cameras and elephants.

The tiger is believed to have killed three people in the last two-months time.

As per the details gathered the tigress was successfully tranquilized at about 2 pm today within Maguvanahalli forest area within Bandipur.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Sanjai Mohan said that the tiger is in a stable condition and forest officers are in the process of moving it into a cage while it is unconscious.

It is gathered that the animal is likely to be transferred to the rehabilitation centre of the Mysore Zoo later this evening.
