Vijayapura: A man committed suicide after murdering his wife over the suspected affair in Alamela Patna village of the district.
The deceased are Hanumantha Vagappa Poojary (30) and his wife Yellavva Hanumantha Poojary (25), both hailing from Nagarahalli.
The couple had married a few years ago and have a 3-year-old child.
As per sources, Hunumatha had doubted that his wife Yellavva had an extra-marital affair and on Tuesday, late-night both had a verbal spat on this issue and in a fit of rage he physically assaulted her with a machete. Yellavva died on the spot.
After committing the crime Hanumanthappa committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday morning. The incident came to light when the neighbors came to ask why the child was crying so much and saw both Hunumatha hanging, Yellavva in the pool of blood.
A case in this regard has been registered with the Alamela police.
