Mandya: 70-year-old woman donates her widow pension for COVID patients

Mandya: Shardamma, a 70-year-old grandmother from Heeralahalli has been spreading positivity and winning the hearts of many by donating her savings from the widow pension to the local COVID care centre K R Pet taluk of Mandya district.

She handed Rs 10,000 to the tahsildar Shivamurthy and instructed him to provide snacks to the isolated patients at the Covid care centre.

This is not the first time, earlier during the first wave, she had quietly handed over Rs 10,000 to Shivamurthy, and appealed to him to provide biscuits and juice to those admitted in the Covid Care Centre in Hosaholalu and Shettynayanakana Koppalu.

She also brought cookies and juice bottles, which she gave to the cops to distribute among the 200 individuals in the centre.

“I have tried to follow in the footsteps of my parents, and only love and service can win the hearts of the people,” said Sharadamma.

Tahsildar Shivamurthy lauded her service and described her as a role model. He urged the people to contribute generously and join hands in the battle against Covid.
