Mandya: Man, famous for his ‘Butter Idli’ passes away

Mandya: Shivappa, the man famous for his butter idlis in Srirangapatna died en route to a Bengaluru hospital in the wee hours of Friday.

Reportedly, Shivappa met with an accident on Thursday when he was on his way to Ramnagara on a scooter. He lost balance of the vehicle when a dog suddenly crossed the road causing him to fall off the scooter. An injured Shivappa was taken to a nearby hospital where he was given preliminary treatment and then taken home.

Later he complained of severe pain around Thursday midnight and was taken to a hospital in Bengaluru for further treatment, but he died on the way.

A native of Ramanagara, Shivappa had set up a tea stall adjacent to his house near Srirangapatna-Bidar State highway. Several people used to throng his hotel for the soft idli.

Shivappa’s hotel was also well known in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Mandya districts and people would visit his shop to taste his idlis. Actors Prakash Rai and Sihi Kahi Chandru are among the few who had visited his shop and praised the taste of his idlis.
