After a long time, bus services have been resumed in the city on Tuesday. Although government circular has advised them to strictly follow social distancing norms, the bus staff are having a hard time.
As only a few buses are currently operating in the city, the buses see more number of passengers than usual which makes it hard to follow social distancing rules. It is said that around 120 city buses and 100 service buses are currently operating.
Bus owners claim that even though bus drivers and conductors are educated about the government’s guidelines, passengers are flouting the rules and board the bus even though the seats are full.
Also, fine is being imposed on city buses for flouting rules and if this continues, bus owners claim that it would be difficult to run the buses.
It is said that several buses were stopped by the traffic police for not following social distancing rules. Around 15 buses going to Talapady, Konaje and Ullal were fined for carrying extra passengers at Nagori.
