Mangaluru: A passenger who arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport on Sunday, March 8 was admitted into the district Wenlock Hospital after he exhibited symptoms of coronavirus infection.
Health department officials, who have been screening all the passengers arriving at the airport observed that the said passenger who came from Dubai displayed symptoms of fever and reportedly decided to admit him into the hospital.
He has been now kept in the special isolated ward. The officials have refused to the name reveal the name and other details of the admitted person.
Dakshina Kannada district health officer Sikandar Pasha informed that the passenger who returned from Dubai was diagnosed with fever on his arrival at the airport. During the check conducted at Dubai airport at the time of departure, he did not have a fever, therefore, as a measure of precaution, he was admitted to the special ward set up at the Wenlock Hospital.
He further added, "We have collected throat swab samples of the passenger and they have been dispatched to Bangalore Medical College Hospital for testing. We expect to receive the report on Monday. If the report is negative, we will discharge the passenger after a thorough check-up."

The number of fatalities nearly tripled, rising from 133 to 366 on Sunday. China reported 22 new deaths on Monday, the lowest number of fresh cases since the outbreak.
