Mangaluru: Fire erupts at chemical factory at Bajpe

Mangaluru: A fire broke out at a factory at  Mangaluru SEZ area in Bajpe here on Saturday, April 24.

The mishap occurred at Catasynth specialty chemicals private limited here due to a suspected short circuit.

No human casualties were reported in the incident. Due to the weekend curfew, most of the employees had not reported to the workplace or it would have been a life-threatening situation, officials informed.

Fire tenders from MRPL were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Fire tenders from Kadri fire station, HPCL, NMPT and MCF too have been rushed to the spot.

The company is said to have sustained extensive damages in the mishap.
