Advertisement
The victim fell prey to an advertisement on Facebook promising work from home with Amazon. Upon clicking the ad, the victim was directed to a WhatsApp page where they were sent a link.
On February 21, the victim clicked on the link and paid a registration fee of Rs. 200 as stated in the advertisement.
Soon after, an unknown person contacted the victim on Telegram and promised a commission of Rs. 500 for completing multiple tasks. On February 23, the victim was duped into transferring a sum of Rs. 1,45,225 in a series of transactions, under the guise of completing these tasks. The perpetrator gave various reasons for these transactions such as income tax and commission.
