The office covers the Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. It is said that Taxpayers of the coastal region seek this office for tax revisions and other tax-related work

Dakshina Kannada district is one of the fastest growing districts in the country as there are large number of trade centers and industries in Dakshina Kannada

Also, there are around 4 lakh taxpayers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts which generate an annual income of Rs 3,300 crore

Pradeep Jogi, Chairman, Indian auditors association,Udupi, said that It is better not to merge the PCIT office in Mangalore with Goa. With 4 lakh people paying tax in the district, it is difficult to go to Goa for audit objections. The office must stay here.
