Miscreants broke the gates of the shrine and demolished an idol of the Naga deity as well a statue of Nandi. The items in the cupboards were strewn around.

The devotees, who visited the Daivasthana in the early morning first noticed the desecration and notified the shrine administration about it. The information was then passed on to the police who visited the spot and conducted investigations.

In the recent past, many places of religious importance were vandalized around Mangaluru city. This has deeply hurt the feelings of the faithful. So, security must be provided to all religious places, locals said.
