An FIR had been filed against Gowda for not ensuring the safety of his crew members after two of Maasthi Gudi actors Raghava Uday and Anil Kumar drowned in the Thippagondanahalli reservoir, having jumped off a helicopter while shooting a stunt scene for the movie in November 2016. While Vijay had landed safety as he had worn a life vest, Uday and Kumar were not provided with life vests thus endangering their lives.
Apart from Gowda, film director Naga Shekhar, stunt director, unit manager Bharath and helicopter pilot Prakash Biradar were named in the FIR. Vijay was named as the prime witness in the case.
Reportedly, the police had attempted to arrest Sundar from Vijay’s residence but Vijay helped him escape. In the meantime, the officials filed a case against Vijay for helping Gowda escape. The actor, however, was granted bail after arrest.
