The elections for the 60 wards of the MCC will be held on November 12 from 7 am to 5 pm and in case re-election is necessitated, it will be conducted on November 13. The counting of votes will be held on November 14.
The BJP and Congress has fielded candidates from all 60 wards. While BJP has submitted 94 nominations Congress has submitted 66 nominations and JDS has filed 14 nominations. SDPI and CPIM have submitted 10 and 8 nominations respectively. As many as 35 independent candidates, including Former city mayor, Gulzar Banu have filed their nomination papers to contest the election.
In addition, CPI, JDU, WPI and Karnataka Rashtra Samiti have filed one, two, three, three nominations respectively.
