Mersal Telugu release delayed

Chennai: Vijay starrer Tamil superhit, Mersal has raised controverisies after having contents on GST which triggered the BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu demanding to remove the contents where the Centre’s policies such as GST were shown in a poor light.

The Madras High Court today rejected a petition to ban the film, stating, “It is only a film and not real life. Freedom of expression is for all.”

The victory over the ban apart, Mersal, did not release in the neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today as scheduled because the censor board has not yet cleared the dubbed Telugu version, though the producers have removed the dialogue that is critical of the GST, as demanded by the BJP.

Aditi Ravindranath, the Executive Producer and Marketing Head at Thenandal Films tweeted to say that the film the dubbed Telugu versionof Mersal, Adirindhi has been postponed and release date would be updated soon.
