The incident took place between 11 am to 3.30 pm here on April 15 at Sri Devi Prasad shop located at Kulur. Nearly 600-700 people were seen queued up outside the shop holding onto their Aadhar cards and bank passbooks here with total disregard to the lockdown and social distancing rules.

When questioned one of the persons divulged that following submission of their bank account details a sum of Rs 2000 will be deposited into their accounts. However none of the persons assembled at the spot had an answer for who is depositing the said money.

The person collecting the information from the labourers claimed that they were acting as per instructions from the DC office. He however fled from the spot on his bike shortly later.

Meanwhile the district administration, city police as well as the local corporator claimed no knowledge of Rs 2000 assurance. Though a 7 am – 12 pm window has been offered to people for buying of essentials during the lockdown, many people have been violating the same.
