The Twitter handle though created some time back had been largely unused. Patil’s tweet — “Plz share info on any illegal acts, traffic probms, gamblin, drugs, any other issues. I assure that immediate action would be taken (sic),” has evoked response from netizens and many are lauding the efforts taken by the commissioner to improve the law and order situation.

A 2004 IPS batch officer Patil hails from Bengaluru and has previously served as the superintendent of police in Ballari, Kodagu, Davanagere and Belagavi. He has also rendered service as the SP in the intelligence and as deputy commissioner of police in Bengaluru City and Bengaluru North. Post this, he was promoted as the deputy inspector general of police in Karnataka State Reserve Police and City Armed Reserve. This happens to be his first posting in Dakshina Kannada.
