Following this, a meeting was held on Friday, May 27 and the president of the college development committee, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, vice chancellor Prof P S Yadapadithaya, principal of the college and members of the syndicate were present.

Now, the college development committee has decided that students are not allowed to wear hijab inside the classrooms but it is permitted on the campus.

Kamath said, “SDPI and Congress are inciting the Muslim students. But we will not allow them to convert the University college into another JNU. If anybody fails to follow the government and court order, lecturers will be taken into the task and they will have to answer in the court.”

Vice Chancellor, Prof PS Yadapadithaya said, “We held a meeting to discuss the recent developments in the college. Muslim students are not allowed to wear Hijab inside the classroom. There was a delay in sending the guidelines as we had examinations soon after the high court order was received.”

“We also spoke to the Muslim girls and tried to convince them. But they said that will approach the DC. No issues. If necessary, we can also make arrangements for them to transfer to another college,” he added.

Meanwhile, Vinyas Acharya, president of the students’ union who was elected with the support of the ABVP has resigned.

He said, “I had urged the students not to hold the protest in the college. But they went ahead with it. I feel there is no point in me continuing as the president if my decision is considered wrong.”
