The Banashankari police, probing the case have traced the mobile call to Chirag apartment in Mangaluru and have asked the city police personnel to assist them in identifying the caller. Accordingly, a team is expected to visit the apartment today, said a police official involved in the investigation.

The issue came to Roopa’s knowledge when the superintendent of police (Lucknow, west) placed a call to her to inquire if she had booked a room for herself, in the UP capital from December 29 and January 3. Upon knowing that a person had misused the upright officers name the cops tried to call the woman but her phone was switched off.

Notably, D Roopa had approached cyber crime police last week after it was found that unidentified miscreants had created a fake Instagram account of the officer and were raising funds in her name for the cause of girls education.
