‎Moodabidri: Illegal timber smuggling busted; Property worth Rs 18L seized

‎Moodabidri:‎‎ Officials of the Forest department here confiscated a consignment of timber being illegally transported in a lorry.

The lorry laden with the Acacia logs was intercepted near Vishal Nagar. The value of the seized property was estimated to be Rs 18 lakhs.

An accused has been taken into custody, the officials said and added that an investigation is underway.

Under the direction of Deputy Conservator of Forest P Shridhar, the operation was conducted by a team headed by Range forest officer Sampath Patel.
