Meanwhile, the owner of the ice candy manufacturing unit at Malpe Kalmadi and three employees of the firm have been booked by the police.
During the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, people carrying ice candies in motor bikes had sold them in various villages in the region. Soon, many elders and children developed symptoms of fever, vomiting and dysentery and over a 100 people got admitted into different hospitals complaining of these symptoms. While some of the people were admitted into the hospital, few others were treated as out-patients.
In order to spread awareness against the consumption of the contaminated ice candies, Hebri panchayat has arranged to announce through microphones mounted on auto rickshaws, to not to consume substandard ice candies being sold from door to door. People who got admitted on Monday are recovering.
