Mangaluru: Nalin Kumar hwo is the BJP candidate for Dakshina Kannada constituency seems to be all set to win for a third time after registering a lead of over one lakh votes over Congress candidate Mithun Rai.
As of 11:15 am, Nalin secured over 3 lakch votes in comparison to close to 2 lakh votes garnered by Mithun Rai. Third position has been secured by SDPI’s Mohammed Eliyas with over 15,000 votes.
Initially, Mithun Rai was on the lead when postal ballots were being counted by Nalin soon overtook him by holding a consistent margin of votes.
Altogether 13 candidates have contested the elections and 17,24,358 voters have cast their franchise of which 8,45,308 are male, 8,79,050 are females and 102 are others. The district recorded 77.9% voter turnout.
The final results are yet to be announced; however BJP supporters have gathered and started celebrating. More details awaited.
