These posters, with messages like ‘my house is for sale as we are being forced to migrate’ have been pasted outside 12 to 14 of the 273 homes in Treasure Town Colony under Rajendra Nagar police station limits, resident Prashant Pandey told PTI.

”We are forced to take this step due to the poor law and order situation here.We have complained to the police often about criminal and immoral activities going on in and around the township,” he claimed.

Pandey alleged he and and two others were threatened by ”people with criminal tendencies” after these posters came up, while a minor girl from the township said she is often subjected to stares, hooting and lewd songs by undesirable elements when she goes out of the house.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Aditya Mishra, who visited the area and spoke to the residents, told PTI a special investigation team under an additional DCP rank officer will be formed to probe the issue.

”We have installed CCTV cameras around the EWS township and there is continuous police patrolling as well. Character verification of people living in the apartments is being done and preventive action is being taken against elements with criminal records,” Mishra said.

The DCP said a dispute between two groups in connection with the residents’ association election has also come to the fore and a police post has been set up to ensure the issue does not escalate.
