On June 7th, 5 heads of cattle died after the vehicle which was transporting them toppled into a drain near Mundaje. The car which was being used for the illegal transportation was registered in Bengaluru. During investigation it was realized that the number plate was fake and hence the police took the case seriously. Meanwhile, a police constable belonging to Dharmasthala police station, who was on duty at the Charmadi checkpost on the day of the incident was suspended for dereliction of duty.
In order to arrest the accused, a police team led by Circle Inspector Sandesh P G who is also the investigating officer, had pitch camp at Moodbidri since three days. Eventually, the successfully nabbed the accused.
