The news of the mysterious object that had been sighted at Kishore Moolya’s house spread like fire and villagers, including the village accountant and other government officials gathered at the spot. Anxiety gripped them as they feared that the box-like object might be a bomb and a distress call was placed to the police.
Upon inspection, the police found that the object was actually RSG-20 GPS Radiosonde, an instrument used by the Indian meteorology department to help gather information about prevailing weather conditions.
The meteorology department centre located at Shaktinagar here releases the RSG-20 GPS Radiosonde in the early morning hours, on a daily basis. While it generally lands in no man’s area or in the sea, the wind conditions might have drifted it towards the residential area on this occasion.
