Mysuru Dasara: President Murmu inaugurates Dasara wearing special Mysuru Silk saree

Mysuru:  President of India Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the world famous Mysuru Dasara Celebrations – 2022, on Monday, September 26, by wearing a specially woven Mysuru Silk saree.

On Thursday, September 22, Mysuru District In-charge Minister S T Somshekhar along with a delegation met President Murmu in New Delhi and invited her to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara. At this point in time, he had handed over a specially handcrafted Mysuru Silk saree along with ‘tambulam’ (traditional way of inviting the guest).

Today (September 26), President Murmu wore the same saree and inaugurated Mysuru Dasara.

Reports suggest that Somashekhar was aware of President Murmu’s liking towards white sarees and hence had directed Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSCIL) to manufacture a special white silk saree.

Meanwhile, the people of Karnataka, especially Mysuru have appreciated the gesture of President Murmu.
