Mysuru Dussehra: Simple celebrations; Jumbo march limited to palace premises

Bengaluru: The State government has decided to celebrate the annual Mysuru Dussehra festival in a traditional and simple manner in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting presided by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

“Dussehra celebrations will be limited to the Palace and Chamundi Hill. ‘Gajapayana,’ the grand elephant march will be confined to the palace premises. It is being considered that the festival should be inaugurated by five COVID-19 Warriors,” Minister CT Ravi said.

The chief ministers had decided to pay Rs 10 crore and Rs 5 crore from MUDA for the celebrations. There would be electric lighting for the palace and major circles in Mysuru city.
