Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh, two soldiers from Karnataka martyred

Bengaluru: Two Border Security Forces (BSF) officers from Karnataka set out their life for the country battling the Naxals. 

Vijayananda Suresh Nayak (29) of Komarapanthavada of Karwara and Santosh Laxman Gurava (28) of Halaga town of Khanapur taluk in Belgaum are the soldiers who were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast activated by the CPI (Maoist) at Chote Bethiya forested route in Kanker district, around 200 km south of Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Monday, July 9. 

Both Santosh Gurav and Nityanand Nayak were attached to the 121st regiment of BSF based at Bande of Kanker district. 

Vijayananda Suresh Nayak was unmarried and leaves behind his father, mother, a brother and sister. He was trained at Impala of Manipur and served at West Bengal and Hyderabad. He was an individual from the group searching for Naxals’ refuges and attacking them in Chhattisgarh. 

Santhosh had joined the Army around 5 years back. He is survived his wife, mother and 3 siblings. 

On Monday, after completing the inquiry tasks in the zone, around 200 soldiers were coming back to the camp by motorbikes. Gurava and Nayak were seated on a same bike. Because of an IED blast in transit, the two soldiers were killed on spot.

As indicated by the sources, the mortal remains will be conveyed to the state on Wednesday morning.
