Need for shift in learning process, says MAHE VP

Manipal: The Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal organized a continuing Professional Development Programme ‘Pathobiome” on October 27, 2018.

Dr K Ramnarayan, Vice President – Faculty Development, MAHE and Chairperson Manipal University, Jaipur was the Chief Guest. He emphasized that there should be shift in the learning process from “Just in case” to a “Just in time” approach. He urged the participants to learn by asking good questions and by interacting with the resource persons. Dr Keethilatha M Pai, Dean, MCODS Manipal welcomed the gathering and Dr Monica Charlotte Solomon, Head of the Department of Oral Pathology proposed the vote of thanks.

The resource persons for the programme were Dr Prakash PY, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, KMC Manipal, Dr Vidya Manohar, Senior Oral Pathologist, Mangalore and Dr Sudeendra Prabhu, Professor, Department of Oral Pathology, Yenepoya Dental College Mangalore. Faculty, Post graduate students, Interns and undergraduate students participated in the scientific event. Faculty and students presented scientific papers during the free paper session.

The focus of the scientific event was to understand the role of microorganism in the pathogenesis of oral diseases, to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms that take place in oral diseases and to recognize critical cellular features that will assist in their diagnosis. It is of importance to make a diagnosis that will ensure that the treatment render brings about the best prognosis.
