“New Karnataka” to be built to complement “New India,” says CM Bommai in his Ind Day speech

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in his Independence Day speech announced that a New Karnataka will begin from today to complement New India.

He delivered the 75th Independence Day address at the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground here.

“New Karnataka will be built with a new thinking and a new direction. In the wake of the Azadi Ka Amrita Mahotsav, 14 new Amrit schemes for the State that includes smart startups, Amrit schools, gram panchayats and rural housing schemes will be undertaken,” the chief minister said.

“Every effort will be made to make the State number 1 in industry. We will bring more capital and provide employment to the youth. There will be no compromise on the issue of the State’s land and water resources. The Upper Krishna Project has a legal hurdle that will be overcome soon. I will discuss the Mekedatu project with the Central government and will soon implement the plan and provide drinking water,” he added.

He said that 750 Amrit Farmer Producer Organisations will be set up to provide special incentives for the production and sale of farmers, weavers and fishermen’s products and an Amrita Nirmal Nagar scheme will be formulated to maintain cleanliness in 75 urban and local bodies.

“We are working to remove regional developmental imbalances. This change will be seen by the people of the State in a few months. May your life be golden at this Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations,” Bommai said.
