The New Zealand PM said, in a statement, “We’ve always considered climate change to be a huge threat to our region, and it is something we must take immediate action on. Unfortunately, we were unable to progress a motion around a climate emergency in parliament in the last term, but now we’re able to.”
The climate emergency bill is an important step towards furthering the efforts of countries in battling climate change. New Zealand will join countries such as Britain, France, and Canada if this bill is passed
Climate emergency is “a situation in which urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change and avoid potentially irreversible environmental damage resulting from it”
