Some colleges have made use of technology and started to teach through online platforms to the students to ensure the lockdown should not affect the academic year.

Even though this facility help students who are located in areas with good internet bandwidth, for many students locked in villages, finding a decent network to make use of the internet is a problem.

The same problem leads to an inspiring story of a student who has been sitting over a tree to ensure he does not skip any classes.

In the wake of COVID-19 lockdown, the SDM college, Ujire had sent all the students to their villages for safety and started online classes to ensure to complete the academic year. They also requested students to attend classes to attend the same.

Shriram Hegde, a resident of Sirsi have been pursuing the second year Social Studies student at the same college also gone back to his native, and there was no internet in his area.

In the pursuit of a decent network, he searched around his home and area. Then he found a network at a location in 1 KM away from home where he can only receive calls. He did an experiment by climbing a tree there to check if he gets any internet and the experiment was fruitful. Ever since he has been climbing that tree on a daily basis to attend the classes.

When we are in a generation, where the students won’t go to classes regularly on a normal day, the dedication of Shriram has been praised by the institution and praised him that he is a role model for other students.
