As per a media report, some farmers in Badodha tehsil withdrew money from the local State Bank of India branch on Tuesday only to discover that some Rs 2000 bank notes did not have Mahatma Gandhi’s image.

Bank officials assured the farmers who went to the branch that the notes were not fake and it could be a printing error.  An SBI officer mentioned that the notes had been sent for a probe.

However one of the farmers named Meena said that he had withdrawn Rs 6000 from the bank and on reaching home his son had pointed out that Gandhi’s image was missing on the same.

Though he rushed to the bank the bank officials were reluctant to take any action, he says adding that the bank took the notes back but did not issue fresh currency.
