Not to contest elections anymore, says Abhay Chandra Jain

Moodbidri: Former minister Abhay Chandra Jain on Thursday said that he would not contest in the next elections.

Addressing a press conference here Jain clarified his decision stating that if a country has to develop, then youngsters need to be given a chance in politics.

Attributing the victory of Congress party in the assembly elections held in five states to the campaigning done by party president Rahul Gandhi, Jain said that the party has shown its capability in this election.

Taking a jibe at opposition BJP, Jain said that dreams of a ‘Congress-Mukth Bharath’ will never become a reality. He further said that the Congress party believes that opposition party is a must for  the success of democracy and thus never raised slogans of  ‘BJP- Mukth Bharath’.

“The outcome of the elections reflects what is in store in the 2019 general elections,” he said adding that ill-thought decisions of BJP such as demonetisation and its dictatorial attitude were to blamed for the recent loss suffered by the opposition party.

Congratulating newly elected chairman of legislative council, Pratap Chandra Shetty Jain said the seven time MLA was truly committed to the party and had never asked for any ministerial post.
