Offline classes of graduate, postgraduate and diploma courses to start from Jan 15

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Higher Education, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan announced that all offline classes for students of all undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses will recommence from January 15.

After a high-level meeting with officials in Bengaluru on Monday, the DyCM told reporters that the final year offline classes is already successfully underway. Students in the first, second and third years also urged us to restart physical classes. Hence, we are starting all classes from this month.

“All preparations have been made as per the COVID-19 guidelines and colleges would have all precautionary measures including temperature checking, sanitiser dispensing system and physical distancing,” Narayan added.

“Bus services of colleges will also be allowed. Arrangements have also been made for the distribution of student bus passes. The Transport Department has agreed to this. Colleges should contact the offices of their respective transport division and arrange bus passes for their students as soon as possible,” he said.

“The NCC and NSS training will also be allowed. The NCC will be conducting short-term camps to conduct their examinations. A three-day camp will be conducted for B-Certificate examination and a five-day camp for C-Certificate Examination,” the DyCM added.

“It has also been decided to open all the hostels, for this the Social Welfare and Backward Classes Departments have been requested to prepare a separate SOP. The SOPs will also be prepared for the library, canteen, academic and cultural activities and sports events in the colleges,” he added.

“Finally, all State and private universities chancellors are of the opinion that examinations must be conducted offline. We will soon inform about the examination schedule as soon as possible,” he said.
