The authorities in Udupi set time limits for New Year celebrations, allowing loudspeakers and DJ sound until 10 pm and overall festivities until 12:30 am. The police and home guard teams maintained a vigilant watch to prevent any untoward incidents, conducting inspections and raids as necessary.
