People’s representatives accountable to voters: Upendra

Mangaluru: Actor-turned-politician Upendra on Wednesday said that though politicans are public servants the opposite seems to be true in the present scenario.

Claiming that election manifestos released by various political parties is merely a book of false promises, the actor who has founded Uttama Prajakeeya Party (UPP) said that his party does not have any election manifesto.

Addressing a press meet at press club here Upendra said that political parties are accountable to voters and the latter must have rights to recall their representative if they fail to deliver the promises made in election manifesto.

Further he said that while the UPP did not have an election manifesto, its candidates will work keeping in mind the demands of the people.

“Any kind of political interference in developmental works will be opposed by UPP,” Upendra added.

Regarding their preparedness for Lok Sabha elections Upendra said that UPP will contest in all 28 constituencies. He said that the party is fielding Vijay Srinivas, a Bengaluru-based auto driver from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency
