A leader of the Popular Front of India has stated that the Taliban have ‘successfully resisted’ the US’s occupation of Afghanistan and will provide good administration in the country.

Parappurathu Koya, a member of the Front’s National Executive Council, expressed his support for the Taliban in an article in the organisation’s mouthpiece.

“Most of the Western news reports are biased and do not present the full picture of the reality of Taliban or Afghanistan. The US controlled the government in Afghanistan through Ashraf Ghani and the whole country was highly corrupt under the US occupation resulting in the rise of Taliban’s popularity,” Koya says in the article.

“India must diplomatically recognise the Taliban in order to check Pakistan expanding its influence in Afghanistan,” he adds.

Koya reportedly also works in the Kerala government’s Department of Collegiate Education and is a postgraduate in English literature.
