Plan to eliminate Prof. KS Bhagwan was on: SIT

Bengaluru: The Hindu Yuva Sene founder K.T. Naveen Kumar, main accused in the senior journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh’s murder has revealed that the team formed with a group of Hindutva fringe had identified 36 potential targets and were tarining 50 shooters to eliminate anti-hindu leaders.

Naveen Kumar, was under SIT custody, said that the Hindutva fringe was planning to eliminate Mysuru-based rationalist and writer Prof. K.S. Bhagwan for his anti-Hindu statements against Hindu deities.

The 700-page chargesheet, with statements from over 150 witnesses, was submitted before the First ACMM Court judge recently. It describes the role of five of the seven arrested accused.

The chargesheet also contains reports from the Forensic Sciences Laboratory, corroborating the charges against Naveen Kumar, Sujeeth Kumar, Amol Kale, Amith Degvekar and Manohar Dundappa Yavade. It states that the accused procured arms and ammunition to carry out the job.

It has been reported that, the SIT team analysed around 100 phone call records of the suspects and stumbled upon a conversation where they were planning to kill Prof Bhagwan for his “anti-Hindu views” and “criticism of Hindu gods” was being discussed.
