Mangaluru: Preparations are in full swing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden official roadshow in the coastal city scheduled for April 14. There are plans to showcase the unique coastal cultural fervor and heritage during the event.
It is gathered that these shows have been planned by enthusiastic Modi supporters and not the BJP themselves. Modi supporters have put forth several requests, aiming to introduce the Prime Minister to the essence of the coastal lifestyle. These include elements of Bhoota Kola, Kambala, and other cultural performances on stages set along the route.
However, the decision to allow these performances depends on security clearance by the Special Protection Group (SPG), which overlooks the Prime Minister’s security.

The roadshow’s route will take Prime Minister Modi through the heart of Mangaluru. The roadshow will begin at 6 pm with Prime Minister Modi garlanding the statue of Narayana Guru at Sri Narayanaguru Circle (Ladyhill), before proceeding through Lalbagh Junction, Ballalbagh, and PVS Junction, towards Navbharat Circle.
It is gathered that the roadshow may extend to Hampanakatte junction, subject to approval from SPG.
Security arrangements
Stringent security measures are already underway, with the SPG overseeing preparations to ensure a safe and smooth event. Senior officials, including representatives from the district administration and the police commissioner’s office, have convened to coordinate security arrangements and logistical details. Temporary iron barricades will line the route, restricting access to pedestrians and ensuring a clear pathway for the procession.
In addition to security measures, efforts are being made to mitigate potential risks, including the clearance of beehives along the route. The Forest Officer, acting on instructions from the Police Commissioner’s office, is overseeing the removal of beehives from buildings and trees in the vicinity of the roadshow.
No entry after 5 pm
Furthermore, entry of vehicles into the city will be prohibited after 5 p.m. on April 14. The police have decided a complete halt to vehicular traffic from both the Balmatta and Kottara sides, ensuring the smooth passage of Prime Minister Modi’s convoy.
