Police asked to monitor Cyber Centers

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State education department has made an appeal to the police to make a strict note and monitor all cyber centers across the state to ensure that students do not browse deadly blue whale game.

Sowjanya, commissioner of state primary and secondary education has stated that there is a need to monitor activities of the students in the cyber centers.

Sowjanya also directed all the Educational Institutions especially the school head masters to hold awareness programmes on these games among the school students. “Teachers must create awareness about the affects of internet based games on students. School heads must engage SDMC members and parents in these awareness initiatives,” she directed.

Parents are also cautioned on the game and asked to have a look at their teenagers activities.

“Blue Whale Challenge”, is an Internet “game” that is claimed to exist in several countries. The game allegedly consists of a series of tasks assigned to players by administrators during a 50-day period, with the final challenge requiring the player to commit suicide the term “Blue Whale” comes from the phenomenon of beached whales, which is linked to suicide.
