Expressing their frustration at a press conference, committee leaders Srilakshmi Mathamule and Sukanya Rao accused the police of yielding to pressure and stripping citizens of their democratic right to protest. They voiced concerns over the increasing incidents of love jihad, claiming that innocent Hindu girls are falling victim to this phenomenon. The most recent case emerged in Mangaluru just days ago, prompting the call for the protest to raise awareness.
Advocate Harish Kumar criticized the police’s decision, arguing that instead of stifling protests, efforts should be directed towards addressing and resolving the love jihad issue. He emphasized that the police should not obstruct public awareness campaigns and accused them of violating constitutional rights.
Prominent figures such as Roopa D. Bangera and Puneet Attavar were also present at the press conference, showing their support for the cause.
