Incidentally, a case had been registered against Khaleel in this regard four months back. He is employed in Abu Dhabi.
Apparently, Khaleel had created several fake Facebook accounts which were used to spread communal hatred and sacrilegious material. He was also accused of posing murder threat to Abdul Lathif, who runs a business in the town and also has business interests in Sullia taluk. However, though the case was registered on July 25 this year, as Khaleel was abroad, the police had been unable to act on the complaint.
Moodbidri town police received information that the accused was a visit to his native place on holiday on October 31 and accordingly, the police went to Sullia, took him into custody and brought him here. He has been remanded to 15 days of judicial custody.
