During the programme, property including jewellery, vehicles that were stolen in various police station limits of the city, which were seized in the year 2018- 2019, were handed over to the rightful owners. The estimated value of the recovered property is worth Rs 3.72 crore.
Total properties worth of Rs 4,30,00,000 were stolen in 2018 of which, properties worth Rs 3,40,00,000 were seized. Total properties worth of Rs 65,00,000 were stolen in 2019 of which properties worth Rs 32,00,000 were seized.
Addressing the gathering Police commissioner Sandeep Patil said, “Today we are conducting property return parade after obtaining order from the court. We are distributing the properties to the rightful owners. Several cases have been registered in various police stations in the past one year and properties were lying in respective stations for several months. We are distributing the same through this parade in order to gain the confidence of people.”

Thankful to the police department
One of the complainants at the occasion said, “Couple of months back, we had been to Chikkamagaluru to attend a family programme. On returning we found out that our jewellery worth Rs 6,30,000 was stolen. We were suspicious about our maid. When we complained to the police, the truth came to light during the police inquiry. It was our maid who had stolen our jewellery. We thank the police department for tracing and returning back our jewellery.”
